The overall lack of growth control acquired by cancer cells is due to the accumulated abnormalities in numerous cell regulatory mechanisms and is considered in some aspects of cell behavior that differs them from their healthy counterparts. What goes into providing anesthesia for cardiac surgery where a patient's heart is completely arrested? In this video, I take you into the operating room during a surgery and talk with Dr. Benji Salter, program director for Mt. Sinai Hospital's cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship program.

Three to five years after gastric bypass surgery, some patients start to regain weight because the size of their stoma (the opening at the bottom of the stomach pouch) or their stomach pouch itself has increased. This can keep you from feeling full after small meals.

Research from Mayo Clinic finds that half of elderly patients who start dialysis after age 75 will die within one year.

Lead study author and a health care delivery scholar with the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery, Dr. Bjorg Thorsteinsdottir says many elderly patients and their families feel that they have no choice but to start dialysis, with several expressing regret from having initiated therapy.

The findings were presented at the American Society of Nephrology's Kidney Week 2013 in Atlanta.
